On this fine Tuesday, I want to share the brilliant work of I AM THAT GIRL, an organisation that works to build girls up to be honest, caring, confident, unique, and amazing women.
A topic very close to my heart, I encourage you to stand along with me and I AM THAT GIRL to improve self worth for girls everywhere. You can do anything from tweeting IATG, take a pledge and receive info of their work, join or create a local chapter, or even sponsor a girl to receive mentoring and support.
A girl’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being is rooted in her self-worth.
In an epidemic of negativity, I AM THAT GIRL is helping girls transform self-doubt in to self-love by providing a safe space to connect and have honest conversations about things that matter. Girls are bombarded with messages that attack their actions, looks, ways of thinking, and that make judgements on what she is NOT. We work to help her love who SHE IS, to see all the positives in herself, and to empower her to inspire the same in others.
Raise the standards for how girls treat each other, themselves, and the world.
We are shifting girl culture. By building a community for girls to be seen, be heard, and belong, we are giving them something bigger than themselves to stand for and creating a healthier, more powerful world. A world that not only invites guys in to the conversation, but requires them.
I have a brilliant heart and a beautiful mind. I am me, a perfectly flawed, beautyFULL work in progress. I promise to lift other girls up, have their backs, and make it safe for them to be exactly who they are. I’m on a mission to raise the standards for how we treat each other, how we treat ourselves, and how we treat the world. Every time I look in the mirror I’ll remind myself that I’m not alone, that I’m beautiful, that my voice matters, and that I am enough.
I am that girl. Are you?
